Graphic of a person in a hospital bed

This study aimed to:

Graphic of half a sun and half a cresent moon.
Understand the activity and sleep patterns of inpatients with Parkinson's and delirium and how they fluctuate over time
Assess the feasibility and acceptability of the use of wearable sensors in inpatients with Parkinson's and delirium
Graphic showing a line graph with two points highlighted
Graphic of a tick and a cross with arrows showing direction between the two.
Develop novel clinically relevant outcome metrics from wearable sensors to aid delirium diagnosis and monitor progression
Explore whether activity and sleep patterns detected by weable sensors are associated with delirium subtype

Our methods:

Graphic of a time line over five days
Graphic of a hospital
Participants completed a daily detailed delirium assessment including a variety of tests, questions, collateral history and observations
We invited everyone admitted to hospital with Parkinson's disease to take part as part of the DELIRIUM-PD study
Digagram of a person's torso from the back. On the lower back and right wrist, a wearable sensor with wave output is placed.
Participants with and wthout delirium wore sensors on their lower back and wrist continuously while in hospital to assess activity and sleep
