Investigating the social and environmental contexts of habitual walking ACTIVities in older adult DYADs

This study aims to:
Assess the feasibility and acceptability of assessing walking activity over 7 days in older adult couples using an accelerometer, a smartphone geolocation app and a qualitative activity diary
Quantify the volumes, patterns and locations of walking activity in older adult couples, as assessed by digital mobility tools
Identify social and environmental factors associated with walking activity in older adult couples, including independent and interdependent walking activities within couples
Our Methods
Participants will complete a range of questionnaires about their social lives, relationships, physical activity and their local areas
Recruit 20 older adult couples (n=40) from the community to take part
Participants will wear an accelerometer on their lower back for 7 days, while carrying a smartphone with a geolocation app with them on excursions outside the home. They will fill in an activity diary each evening
